About Motive For Action
Tenisha Rigby, LISW
Hello, and welcome. I’m Tenisha Rigby, a Licensed Independent Social Worker and the founder of Motive for Action. I created this practice with a simple belief at its core: that healing, growth, and meaningful change are possible for every person, especially when they feel supported, understood, and empowered to take action.
For over 20 years, I’ve dedicated my career to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with resilience and clarity. My work has spanned mental health counseling, trauma-informed practice, leadership development, and organizational support. Across all these spaces, one truth has remained consistent: people thrive when they feel seen, safe, and supported.
My Counseling Philosophy
As a therapist, my approach is grounded in compassion, evidence-based practice, and a deep respect for each person’s lived experience. Whether someone is navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, grief, or simply seeking a space to grow, my goal is to create a calm, nonjudgmental environment where they can breathe, reflect, and move at their own pace.
My work integrates trauma-informed care, cognitive and behavioral approaches, and strengths-based perspectives — but most importantly, it’s shaped around you: your story, your goals, your healing.
My Consulting & Contract Work
Beyond individual therapy, I support organizations through flexible consulting and contract services. I provide guidance in areas such as:
Trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice
Program development and implementation
Staff coaching and training
Mental health and wellness strategies
Short-term contract support to strengthen capacity and meet organizational needs
Whether I’m assisting a small team or a large agency, my aim is always to bring clarity, structure, and a steady, supportive presence that helps organizations serve their communities more effectively.
Why Motive for Action?
This practice was created to bridge compassion with action — to offer a space where individuals feel heard, organizations feel supported, and everyone has the opportunity to grow in a way that feels authentic and sustainable.
I am honored to walk alongside every person and partner who chooses to work with Motive for Action.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and this mission.
If you’re ready to begin counseling or explore consulting support, I’m here when you’re ready.
